GREAT GAME! Based on the game "Monopoly", this is something we did instead of "Bean Week". Besides for getting special money for davening, line-up, benching etc., each bunk is able to buy something in camp for a day and collect rent from the bunks that use it (e.g. They rent the baseball field to another bunk, while they are renting the boats from another bunk etc.) You can also buy a utility e.g. the electricity, and collect a lesser rent from all the bunks. Consult G. Lowenstein or myself for detailed lists and prices etc. Establish a "bank" during rest period and meals to take care of all transactions. While all this is going on for several days, Tzedakah collectors make their rounds at certain times daily, collecting for various causes. Here's a sample receipt: "Bunk____ has graciously donated the sum of $____ to Rina's Soup Kitchen for the Hungry (camp cook). Received by_____. When it all ends, at the beginning of the auction (see "Auction Night" above), blow the shofar and announce "Moshiach is here!" and all our money is useless! (ma'adanim metzuim k'ofor). Only the Tzedakah given has real value, and it is the Tzedakah receipts that will be used in the auction! This surprise may disappoint some, but will get the point across to the campers. In a small camp or a day-camp, each camper can be a separate player. This works very well and is actually the way this game originated. Please speak to me, Yosef Konikov, or G. Lowenstein for details, or if you have any questions.
